Kyau & Albert “Glühwürmchen” OUT NOW!

Having a long history with the label it’s with great pleasure that we welcome back Ralph Kyau & Steven Moebius Albert for their "Anjunabeats Volume 10" smash "Glühwürmchen".

Long established as leading producers within the dance world, the Euphonic records head honchos have been responsible for a number of classic Anjunabeats releases including "Made Of Sun" and "Anphonic" (vs Above & Beyond), in addition to inspired reworkings of Above & Beyond “You Got To Go” and Jaytech feat. Steve Smith “Stranger”.

A quirky and club focussed offering, "Glühwürmchen" (the German for glow worm) again highlights the duo’s innovative approach to production. Bonkers and brilliant in equal measures, "Glühwürmchen" is a melting pot of electro synths, powerful grooves and hands in the air dance floor moments.

Read our exclusive “Anjunabeats Volume 10” interview with Kyau & Albert

Euphonic bosses Kyau & Albert make a welcome return to Anjunabeats with their "Volume 10" offering "Glühwürmchen". The track will be their first full Anjunabeats release since their 2010 collaboration with Above & Beyond “Anphonic”. However, since "Anphonic" they have also been responsible for remixes of some of the label’s biggest tracks such as Above & Beyond’s “You Got To Go”, Jaytech feat. Steve Smith “Stranger” and Super8 & Tab “Empire”. A regular name on the "Anjunabeats Volume" series, we thought it was the perfect time to get the German duo in for a chat about their new single, their craziest gigs and their brand new artist album.

You’ve enjoyed a long standing relationship with Anjunabeats and Above & Beyond, how did the friendship first come about?

"Ralph Kyau: We met the guys for the first time at Amsterdam Dance Event in 2002 and wanted to sign "Far From In Love" to Euphonic for the German market. Unfortunately this single was signed to another company.

"Steven Albert: At the same time as this our single "Velvet Morning" was released on Anjunabeats."

What is your favourite memory/funniest story with Above & Beyond?

"Ralph Kyau: I always felt it was funny that Tony called me Frank. He said the reason was that I look like Frank…"

For those of us that aren’t fluent in German, what does the title of your track “Glühwürmchen” mean and why did you choose it?

"Steven Albert: "Glühwürmchen" means glow worm or firefly. We felt that the name suited the track very well."

You have remixed some classic Anjunabeats releases over the years. Which has been your favourite?

"Ralph Kyau: The remix for OceanLab’s "Sirens Of The Sea" was a hit, although Anjunabeats officially released it a few years after we produced it. I remember that everybody asked us when it would be getting released, but we didn’t know.

"Steven Albert: For me it’s our remix for "You Got To Go". We still play it at many of our gigs."

Tell us about your new artist album “Night’s Awake”…

"Steven Albert: “Nights Awake” is our third studio album and possibly the one we put the most time and production experience into.

"Ralph Kyau: The album features many male vocal tracks with Steven’s distinctive voice, which is already a trademark sound for us. There are also a few collaborations on the album with artists, such as Paul van Dyk, Stoneface & Terminal, Ronski Speed and Adaja Black. For this album we created around 40 new tracks and then gave all these tracks to our friends and our closest Euphonic artists to help us find the best ones for the LP.

"Steven Albert: The album is out now on CD from stores like Amazon and available digitally on all known portals."

Your tracks always seem to take in quite diverse influences. What other music have you been listening to lately? What is on your iPod?

"Steven Albert: We listen to various music, not only EDM.

"Ralph Kyau: I don’t have an iPod. I still buy CDs and prefer to listen to music in the car."

You run one of the most respected trance labels in Euphonic. What is planned for the label in 2013?

"Ralph Kyau: There are singles coming soon from Dennis Sheperd with Ronski Speed, Stoneface & Terminal feat. Amurai, and of course new mixes of various "Nights Awake" tracks. Also, our long-standing label act Ronski Speed is releasing a new album in 2013."

What’s the biggest club track in your sets at the moment?

"Steven Albert: Sequentia pres. Daniel Garrick "Five Years"."

What’s been the craziest gig you have played in the last few months?

"Ralph Kyau: A few weeks ago we played for the very first time in Romania. It was an 100% Trance crowd that knew all tracks!

"Steven Albert: I really loved the vibe at Foundation nightclub in Seattle."

You’ve helped break a lot of great artists through Euphonic. Who would you tip to be the breakthrough artist of 2013?

"Steven Albert: Steve Brian is a very talented guy. He should get more attention.

"Ralph Kyau: Also, San Ko from Ukraine is someone that people should watch out for."

Jaytech feat. Steve Smith “Stranger” (The Remixes) OUT NOW!!

To coincide with the release of Jaytech’s second artist album "Multiverse", lead single "Stranger" (featuring vocals from Dirty Vegas’s Steve Smith) receives two amped up re-workings, propelling this melodic monster into a peak time dancefloor smash.

Longstanding friends of the Anjuna family, dynamic German duo Kyau & Albert deliver a melodic remix that adds an extra thump to the original’s distinctive melodies; dropping into a cascading post-breakdown drop. Awarded Record of The Week status on both Above & Beyond’s TATW and Armin Van Buuren’s A State Of Trance, this remix has already been getting support from some of the biggest names in the scene.

Making his Anjunabeats debut, rising Michael Jay Parker provides an accomplished funk fuelled rework that brings together elements of trance, electro and big room progressive.

Above & Beyond announce TATW400 line up

Above & Beyond can now announce the full line-up for their landmark TATW400 event - taking place in Beirut, Lebanon on Saturday November 26th. Joining the Anjunabeats trio for this special event will be Garuda’s Gareth Emery, Euphonic bosses Kyau & Albert, the innovative Mat Zo and Anjunadeep’s progressive master Jaytech.

The second highest ranked UK DJ behind Above & Beyond, Garuda boss Gareth Emery was an obvious choice for the event – having joined Above & Beyond on their Group Therapy festival stage at Global Gathering earlier in the year. With his “Northern Lights” remix album bringing fresh attention to his recent artist album, Emery continues to establish himself as one of the leaders in his field.

Recently remixing Above & Beyond’s “You Got To Go” anthem to devastating effect, Euphonic’s Kyau & Albert will bring their uniquely uplifting sound to the event, where they will be joined by Mat Zo. With tracks like “Frequency Flyer”, “Superman” and “Rebound” (with Arty) under his belt this year, the irrepressible Londoner has been dominating the Beatport charts and blurring the lines between house and trance – with DJ support coming from everyone from Axwell to Above & Beyond. Currently working on his highly anticipated debut artist album, Zo’s appearance will cap off one of his most explosive years yet.

Anjunadeep’s progressive master Jaytech will complete the bill – fresh from the success of his euphoric piano groove “New Vibe” and with a new "Anjunadeep 04" mix compilation in the works.

10 Years of Anjunabeats - Kyau & Albert Interview

On Friday 3rd December, Anjunabeats will be celebrating a decade of ground-breaking releases with a ‘10 Years Of Anjunabeats’ Xmas party at The Gallery @ Ministry Of Sound in London - uniting some of the best talent from both Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep. A limited supply of £10 discount tickets are available here: http://bit.ly/Anjuna10Years. Below is an exclusive interview with Kyau & Albert to catch up before the event:

Hello guys, have you had a nice day?

Yes, spent most of the time in the studio…

First up it’s Anjunabeats 10th birthday. What do you think their recipe for success has been?

Constantly high class releases of forward thinking trance, combined with great label management. Also it was a visionary idea of setting up the Anjunadeep sub-label, which rounded off the Anjunabeats brand.

Favourite track on the label in this time?

Alt +F4 - Alt +F4.

What have you been up to musically since we last saw you in September?

Just finished a remix for Armin van Buuren and now working on the next Kyau & Albert single, which we plan to release ASAP.

Latest single ‘Painkillers’ is a slight deviation from your normal euphoric offerings. What was the inspiration behind this track – and which software was used for production?

We had this demo laying around and everybody loved the vocal hook. With the production, we wanted to try something different with the guitars and so on. In the end it took a while to produce. We have used Cubase since 1993. No joke!

Why is The Gallery perfect for celebrating this special anniversary occasion?

The Gallery is legendary. Anjunabeats too!

Best ever moment at an Anjuna gig?

Opening for Above & Beyond at ‘Euphonic meets Anjunbeats’ in Berlin this year.

What did you do on your 10th birthday?

Too long a time ago! So honestly have no real memory. I think with family and school friends, eating cakes.

Early plans for 2011?

DJing of course and working on new material, which might surprise some!

Finally, an Anjuna track name that best describes your forthcoming set?

Great question by the way! We will go with ‘Made Of Sun.’

The title track from their debut artist album, Super8 & Tab’s ‘Empire’ is the latest example of the Finnish duo’s forward-thinking talents and also their second collaboration with vocalist Jan Burton. Charged with the searching, emotion-filled tones of Burton and built on a tight, techie groove, it steadily unravels into a hypnotic vocal anthem through its enchanting, understated melodies and epic arrangement. A future classic, it is sure to satisfy both the main trance floors and those craving a deeper rush.

Following the chart storming success of their recent Above & Beyond collaboration ‘Anphonic’, Kyau & Albert offer another moment of Anjunabeats magic with their cleverly contrasting remix. Beginning with a bumpin’ tribal groove, the German pair lull us in with climbing synths and piano motifs before smashing out a monster riff that is as tough as it is uplifting.

Completing the package Lovetone, aka Anton Sonin, offers a bouncy groove-fuelled tech-house meets electro-house remix that is matchmade for the sunset terraces and Ibiza dancefloors.
